Somatic Therapy in California
Therapy to Heal the Mind-Body Connection
Has traditional talk therapy left you unimpressed? That might be because your emotional health doesn’t just happen in your brain. Your mind and body — from your nervous system to your muscles to your hormones — are intimately linked.
Somatic therapy can help you use the mind-body connection to heal holistically.
Our somatic therapists can help you feel more safe and relaxed in your body. You’ll learn to regulate your nervous system, and respond effectively to triggers that come up in your daily life. And ultimately, you’ll be able to get back to the things you care about most — whether that’s family, self-care, career, or just living your life.
Somatic Therapy Can Help You:
Reduce or eliminate intrusive thoughts of a painful or traumatic event
Stop feeling constantly keyed up, tense, or on guard
Feel more in control when a trigger comes up in daily life
Feel comfortable and grounded in your body
Set your own limits or boundaries with others
Manage physical symptoms like pain or digestive issues
Learn to feel safe & emotionally regulated for the first time
What Problems Can Somatic Therapy Treat?
Somatic therapy is often thought of as a trauma treatment — and it’s highly effective at that. It’s also great fit for many problems related to the mind-body connection, such as:
- Trauma and PTSD
- Burnout and depression
- Anxiety and panic
- Complicated grief
- Self esteem and relational issues
- Chronic pain and illness
Meet Sage, Somatic Therapist
Traumatic or painful experiences can leave us disconnected from our bodies. That can serve a protective function, but it can also make it very hard to regulate our emotions.
As a somatic therapist, I can help guide you towards aligning your mind and body. It’s normal to experience overwhelming emotions at times, but somatic therapy can help you respond to those feelings more intentionally. As you learn to regulate your nervous system, you’ll experience more moments of feeling grounded, calm, and safe in your body.
Over time, this creates opportunities not just to cope, but to heal.
Somatic Therapy Might be a Good Fit if You’re Looking For:
Practical new skills and tools to apply in your daily life
A way to feel more comfortable and at home in your own skin
More control over your emotional triggers and unwanted responses
A treatment that doesn’t require talking in depth about a painful memory
An alternative to traditional talk therapy approaches
