Online EMDR
Powerful, effective treatment for trauma and more
When you’ve been through a trauma, talk therapy alone isn’t always helpful.
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing therapy—better known as EMDR—is a powerful, research-backed tool to help you get your life back.
At Stella Nova, we offer effective & convenient EMDR online from the comfort of your home.
Don’t just learn to cope with trauma. Heal it so that you can move forward—grounded, lighter, and more at peace.
How does EMDR work?
EMDR supports you to process painful, traumatic, or stuck thought patterns at the level of your nervous system:
1. Preparation: You’ll start off by learning tools to ground and calm yourself when a painful thought or memory comes up. This is the foundation you’ll rely on throughout EMDR. You and your therapist will work together to decide what memories or events to focus on in the next stage.
2. Reprocessing: The therapist will guide you gently through the process of reprocessing the target memories—ones that are keeping you stuck or driving your distress today. As you reprocess memories, they lose their “heat”; you don’t forget them, but they lose their power to trigger or derail you.
3. Integration: As painful memories lose their grip on you, you’ll be able to revisit your past experiences with less pain, and look forward with more clarity. Therapy can help you better understand your story, and figure out what comes next.
Meet Sage, Somatic EMDR Practitioner
EMDR is one of my favorite ways to help clients get unstuck from a painful or traumatic memory that’s holding them back.
I specialize in the integration of EMDR and somatic therapy—two approaches that complement each other to leave my clients feeling more grounded and in control of their lives. Both work directly with our bodies and nervous systems to go beyond traditional talk therapy for healing at a deeper level.
My goal is to create a safe, supportive space for every client to heal at their own pace. Sound like what you might be looking for? Let’s connect!
Does EMDR work well online?
Absolutely! Research has found that EMDR is generally as safe and effective online as it is in person. EMDR treatment protocols are easily adaptable to a virtual session.
Many Stella Nova clients find they actually prefer the option to do EMDR online, where they can attend sessions from the comfort and convenience of home. No commute, no stress.
Stella Nova offers a high-quality, online therapy experience that’s comparable to what you’d receive in-person. It’s real therapy, just bring your own couch.

Frequently Asked Questions
What happens during an EMDR session?
The answer to that question depends on where you are in the treatment process. An EMDR therapist will start off with taking a history and working with you to clarify your goals. Then, you’ll spend some time in the preparation phase of treatment—learning tools to find safety and regulate your nervous system response before you start reprocessing the memories you want to target
Reprocessing memories involves ‘bilateral stimulation’ of the brain while thinking about the memory or event. Historically, this has used a series of eye movements guided by the therapist (hence, the ‘eye movement’ part of EMDR). However, today’s EMDR can use a variety of techniques to achieve the same goal, like tapping or listening to different tones.
When a memory is reprocessed, it loses its intensity and becomes less distressing. At this point, it may be helpful to work with it using a more traditional talk therapy approach. Your therapist will continuously help you track changes and progress, and integate your new insights over time.
Is EMDR an evidence based treatment?
Yes! The National Institutes of Health and the National Center for PTSD recognize EMDR as an evidence-based treatment for posttraumatic stress symptoms. There is emerging research supporting its use for other conditions, such as depression or anxiety.
Is EMDR covered by insurance?
Yes, EMDR is often covered by insurance as an evidence based treatment for trauma. If you have questions about your specific coverage, we recommend you contact your insurance company.
Stella Nova is an out-of-network provider and does not participate in any insurance panels. However, we can provide you with superbills to submit to your insurance company for out-of-network reimbursement.
How much does EMDR cost?
Currently, our EMDR sessions start at $210 for a 50-minute online session.
